In Mister O'Lui's adventures - as in the entire O'Lui world - it was important to me to create a cozy aNd calm place. So I designed the illustrations simply and with warm colors so as not to overload children and instead stimulate their imagiNation. In this way, the values and messages to be conveyed in the story take center stage and are better able to inspire reflection.
I can only create Mr. O'Lui's little world - and therefore his stories - so authentically if I live it myself. My favorite city, NewYork City, has also been incorporated into the story, where Mister O'Lui and Rupert live in a small wooden house in CeNtral Park. I am particularly fascinated by the contrast between the Nature and the never-sleeping, excitiNg city. So where better for a beaver bear to live in
Nature and experience exciting adveNtures right next door :)

World of crochet
The beginnings of Mister O'Lui really lie in crochet, in the so-called "Amigurumi", a Japanese crochet art with which you can create three-dimensional cute figures. When I was pregnant with twins, I had to lie down a lot early on and taught myself how to crochet amigurumi on the sofa with the help of videos. When the twins were born and had a not-so-easy start in life, I wanted to crochet them a bear, a best FrieNd for Life, who would always be by their side. I sketched out what I wanted him to look like and crocheted away. But with my not yet perfect crochet skills, the bear got big chubby cheeks, instead of a round face, and the Beaver bear was born. And as Mister O'Lui gradually wormed his way into the hearts of friends and the Instagram community, the first crochet pattern followed ... and little by little, the little O'Lui world grew into what it is today.
